The Guthrie Clinic (TGC) EVP, Chief Strategy Officer (EVP/CSO) is the top executive accountable for enterprise strategic planning and strategic business development. This executive leads the organization in collecting information, assessing, planning, developing, and applying business analytics and implementing strategies and tactics to maintain and grow market share and revenue. The EVP/CSO works closely with executive leadership to drive the assessment, development and execution of business strategies designed to optimally position TGC in all markets being served and new markets being pursued. The EVP/CSO oversees the development and execution of new business ventures, partner affiliations, market expansions, physician integration and strategies to address population health management as well as key service lines. The EVP/CSO provides oversight for all strategic planning, business development and external relation functions to support the development, execution, and achievement of short and long-term business plans.
The EVP/CSO serves as a key advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on matters related to strategy, business development, market position, service line development, physician engagement and other matters connected to maintaining or improving market leadership in acute, ancillary and outpatient services. Identification of opportunities for program development, service line development, and medical staff alignment is a key element of this individual’s role.
The EVP/CSO is responsible for assisting the CEO with developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining corporate strategic initiatives. The position reports directly to Dr. Edmund Sabanegh, the new President and CEO of TGC.
Functions reporting into the CSO include:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline, or equivalent education, training or experience required. An advanced degree is strongly preferred (e.g., MPH, MHA, MBA, JD).
? Strategic/business development executive with a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible involvement in strategic planning, business & network development, and physician integration experience. Healthcare experience is preferred, with non-health, service-oriented industry experience given consideration. Strong collaborative skills and prior success in matrixed environment.
? Experience in analyzing and implementing broad-reaching strategies that address issues of market growth in both the in-patient and outpatient settings.
? Experience in using market analytics and financial analysis and modeling to make strategic business decisions. Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex data, as well as the ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports.
? Proven balance between high-level strategic thinking with process orientation and attention to detail, as required in interactions with these high-level audiences.
? Proven track record as a “hands-on” and operationally astute executive that can drill down to the detail necessary to execute on strategic initiatives and business development opportunities.
? Experience overseeing business planning capabilities in developing market insights, including conducting competitor analysis, collecting market intelligence, assessing partnership opportunities, and contributing to Certificate of Need requirements to support growth objectives.
? Proven leadership skills and ability to effectively interact with the Board of Directors.
