The Oncology/Hematology RN is responsible for Infusion Room such as nursing assessments, data collection, documentation transcription of treatment plans and orders, and prescription refills for oncology/hematology patients. Administers infusions injections, performs phlebotomy, collects specimens, access medi-ports, insert peripheral intravenous devices, perform second verification for chemotherapy administration in the infusion center. Provide patient and family education as necessary. Participate and contribute to development of policy and procedures for the Oncology/Hematology infusion room. There is a required 1:5 week rotation to cover the Hem/Onc office. The Office RN performs a wide variety of nursing functions. The Office RN is primarily responsible for patient care, patient education and patient teaching. Ability to collaborate with providers for triage is essential. Assure high quality of care by adhering to standards of care set by CMRC, NYS guidelines, and Scopes, Standards, and Code of Ethics developed by the America Nurses Association. The position requires a thorough knowledge of practice policies and procedures and excellent overall nursing skills. Strong computer skills are needed in this electronic medical record based office. The RN must be able to work and interact as part of a team. RN licensed by the board of Registration in Nursing Maintain proficiency in all specialties' specific duties as observed by provider and/or Practice Administrator in yearly competency.
