Days - On-call Rotation
The RN must be currently licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing an must successfully complete a medication and IV exam, as outline by the hospital, during the orientation period. In addition, the RN must meet individual nursing unit specifications regarding educational requirement during employment. The RN must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Specialty certification, CCRNor RN-BC CV should be achieved as soon as the RN is eligible.
All services for cardiac general diagnostic and interventional care, if necessary (le angioplasty, stent placement, etc.) as well as structural heart care, i.e. Transcatheter Aortic Valve replacement (TAVR), Watchman procedures, PFO and ASD. There are two Cath labs with one specifically designed for structured heart procedures. Besides the physician, each procedure has at least four staff assisting: generally, 3 nurses and a CV Tech.
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Essential functions and specific skills for the job are found in the unit specific onboarding checklist and in standards that are applicable to the specialty.
Graduate of an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited nursing program.
One year RN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) desired. Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required and prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Will need to demonstrate ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Will need to demonstrate leadership skills, skills contributing towards a positive teamwork environment, effective communication skills, and excellent critical thinking skills.
