Performs clerical duties to ensure patients have access to the financial resources available to them. Responsible for preauthorization/precertification of ancillary testing and chemotherapy medications. The Patient Financial Advocate is responsible for patient correspondence, insurance forms and updates, free drug and co pay assistance programs available to patients and addressing patients financial concerns in collaboration with the business office, insurance companies, non-profit organizations, and pharmaceutical companies.
Graduate of an associate’s program in medical office assisting or high school diploma. Familiarity with ICD-10 coding and insurance knowledge preferred.
Certified Medical Coder
Minimum of two years’ experience in an office setting.
