The Operating Room (ORT) Tech under the direction of the Charge nurse and/Surgical Services Director is responsible for providing assistance to the nursing team in the care of the surgical patient by obtaining equipment, supplies and positioning aids for scheduled cases, opening sterile supplies under the supervision of the RN circulator, holding limbs for surgical prep, assisting with patient positioning under the direction of the RN circulator, dismantling and transporting dirty instruments and equipment to the decontamination area, performing room cleaning and turnover duties between cases, and running errands. The ORT duties include patient transport, performing a final check of supplies to ensure that they are complete and all needed supplies are available for "to follow" procedures. Responsibilities include providing anesthesia assistance, setting-up and cleaning anesthesia equipment between procedures, stocking anesthesia supplies, and acting as a preceptor for ORTs in orientation. Understands and adheres to CRMC's Compliance Standards as they appear in CRMC's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and CRMC regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
