The OB Technician has successfully completed a nationally accredited program for surgical technologists and maintains credentialing.
Has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force Marine Corps, Coast Guard or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
The Obstetrical Technician is a team member working under the direction of the Unit Manager, Charge nurse and nursing staff in the delivery of care to the obstetrical patient and her infant using a patient/ family oriented model in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing patient, equipment, and supplies for delivery, special obstetrical procedures and assisting the obstetrical team. The OB Technician provides basic care and functions as a member of the team.
During surgical procedures, the OB technician understands the procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. The OB tech assures ensures quality care during the operative procedure and is vigilant with regard to the sterile field. He/She assists in the preparation of the room prior to surgery or delivery and is accountable for all items required for their surgical table including all instruments and sutures. The OB technician performs routine clerical duties and other duties as assigned within the unit.
Minimum of 1 year is preferred
