Main Function

The Vice President, Procurement & Supply Chain Management at The Guthrie Clinic is responsible for the development and successful implementation of a dynamic and responsive supply chain delivery structure that provides first-class service to all customers. Under the leadership of the Vice President, the supply chain team will ensure System requirements are leveraged to capture optimal quality, price, and service for all System affiliates.
The Vice President, Procurement & Supply Chain Management will report to the Executive Vice President/CFO and will manage home office staff and affiliate-based supply chain directors. This position will have system-wide responsibility for all supply chain activities and will deliver services through a management team that is a combination of system-based and member-based employees. This hybrid reporting relationship will be utilized to insure optimal alignment of best supply chain service practices across the System.
In addition to developing and managing the strategic supply chain for the System, the Vice President is responsible for reducing and controlling product/service costs, reducing and controlling transaction costs (warehousing, purchasing, etc.), providing world-class sourcing services, improving the quality of procured products and services, and identifying, analyzing and implementing sourcing opportunities. This includes, but is not limited to, the identification of sourcing opportunities for product and equipment standards, optimization of supplier relationships, research/entry into new product markets, and the management of System-wide supplier performance.
By working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, the Vice President will support System standards, maximize opportunities, and promote contract compliance. This position is expected to lead Guthrie in adopting and leveraging global, electronic supply chain standards and solutions for identifying, categorizing and tracking medical products.

Education

Bachelor degree required.  Master Degree preferred.

Experience

This position requires a strategic and procurement professional with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of leadership experience in supply chain management.
To be successful, the individual in this position must:

• Be an expert negotiator. Able to facilitate a collaborative process with internal negotiation teams and negotiate product and service contracts at a mastery level.

• Possess detailed knowledge of health care products, equipment, services, and customer requirements.

• Possess a strong working knowledge of warehousing operations and supply chain logistics.

• Be experienced in change management techniques.

• Understand business models used by group purchasing organizations and authorized distributors.

• Possess working knowledge of how to implement and leverage systems that synchronize core product data to standard specifications to bring best practices to the health care industry, and to Guthrie in particular.

• Demonstrate ability to prioritize information technology needed for building infrastructure to support bar coding, radio frequency identification, and enhanced patient safety initiatives.

• Excellent problem solving, administrative and leadership skills.

• Highly self-motivated and mature sense of responsibility.

• Preference for experience with adoption of universal standards for identifying and tracking products across the supply chain.
