Under the direction of the Manager of Corporate Communications, the communications coordinator is responsible for developing and cultivating relationships within the organization and community to build the Guthrie brand. The position works effectively with regional media to pro-actively pitch stories and respond in a timely manner to requests; develops and executes communications plans for new services and programs, grand opening events, and notable achievements and milestones; and manages the internal corporate communications tools and publications of all Guthrie entities.
At the direction of the Corporate Communications Manager, assumes a pivotal role in implementing crisis and/or disaster response communications.
Serves as an integral part of the Strategic Planning and Marketing team. Acts as liaison with internal clients, outside vendors/agencies and media representatives. Responsible for creating and nurturing a positive image of the Guthrie enterprise (including individual entities & organizations) in both the internal (employees) and external (patients, trustees, media and communities) environments.
B.A or B.S. in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related discipline required.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications or equivalent knowledge, with a minimum of five years experience in communications, media relations and project management. Must have health care experience. Writing is a critical skill for this position and the communications coordinator must be highly skilled in composing compelling copy.
Must possess excellent problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and integrity to keep confidential information private. Diplomatic skills required to work with internal clients and media.
