Days/Rotate - 8 hr
Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the state of New York.
Performs established laboratory procedures according to approved protocols that require the broad exerise of independent judgement and interpretation with minimal technical supervision, maintains equipment and records; performs quality assurance activities related to test performance and functions as a supervisor and educator within a medical laboratory setting. Position provides technical, educational, and regulatory guidances for the Point of Care Testing Program for Guthrie Corning Hospital. Works closely with hospital staff to oordinate training, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of a POCT program. This program operates under the medical direction of the laboratory director or designated pathologist. The position's main duty is to represent the laboratory management and their authority when working. It is paramount that your actions and decisions coincide with those policies, procedures, and general management philosophy of the laboratory management. In the event that you encounter problems that you are not abl to solve or resolve, it is imperative that you contact the section coordinator, adminstrative or medical director for guidance, depending on which is most appropriate.
All individuals fulfilling this role must meet NYSDOH requirements and any other hospital specific qualifications for a supervisor. These at minimum will be:
1) Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related sciences
2) Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the state of New York
3) Annually a minimum of 12 CEU's are required
6 years' experience in clinical laboratory technology
