Main Function
Responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and medical records coding staff to ensure that clinical documentation accurately reflects the level of service rendered to patients. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and medical center outcomes. Serves as an educational resource for all members of the health care team on an ongoing basis on issues related to clinical documentation.
Education
RN; BSN required. Licensed as a registered nurse, certification in CCDS is required within 3 years and must be maintained.
Experience
Prior CDI experience preferred. Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in an acute care setting required. Critical Care experience strongly preferred. Requires excellent communication (verbal, written & electronic) and problem-solving skills. Detail oriented with exceptional analytical/critical thinking. Meet minimum score on pre-hire competency test.
