Main Function
The Sr. Director of System Hospital Quality, reporting to the VP, System Patient Safety and Quality, manages and directs all aspects of hospital-wide quality programs including internal and external quality reporting, patient experience, and oversight of quality board governance. The Sr. Director is responsible for continuous quality improvement activities and has responsibility for operationalizing system-wide quality initiatives and assisting in the oversight and implementation of all other quality activities. This position is responsible for partnering with Finance and Payor Contract Services to ensure hospital contracts with payors are aligned with hospital quality priorities and partners with Value Based Reimbursement on coordinating activities that improve financial opportunities.
The position also assists in the implementation of Medical Staff quality initiatives and partners with the Office of Medical Staff Affairs to ensure Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) are aligned with organizational quality priorities. This position partners with specialty level and program level Quality Officers/Directors to sustain a consistent approach to quality improvement initiatives.
Education
A Master’s Degree in a health-related field is required.
A Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) required; the CPHQ must be obtained within 2 years of employment. (Required)
A Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) is highly preferred but not required.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management, quality, clinical care or in a healthcare setting required.
A minimum of 3 years management experience which includes management of staff, budgets, and quality functions for a health care organization.
Experience facilitating Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, improvement workshops, and quality education sessions.
Experience in executing board level presentations and strategic goal communication.
Experience with computer applications, performance improvement process / tools, statistical analysis tolls and data abstraction.
Knowledge of applicable healthcare quality, patient safety, lean/six sigma, project management, information systems, change management or statistical methods preferred.
