The Specialty Unit Tech participates in patient care by performing listed duties under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
Pertaining to all ICU monitors: Techs will be responsible for assisting with identifying changes in rhythm, rate, etc. Requesting vital signs and patient status and reporting such to nurse. Recording rhythm strips and putting on flow sheets, MD Progress Notes, and telemetry book. Maintaining current medication sheets on telemetry patients.
May be asked to assist in calling in extra nursing/tech staff as needed or directed.
Delivers and picks-up from other departments as needed, i.e. blood, specimens, medications, etc.
Computer data entry; i.e. lab orders, patient transfers, dietary information, daily weights, height.
High School Grad or Equivalent
2 years‘ experience providing patient care in an acute care setting. Computer and keyboarding skills required. Polite telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
