Main Function

Responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and medical records coding staff to ensure that clinical documentation accurately reflects the level of service rendered to patients. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and medical center outcomes.  Educates members of the health care team on an ongoing basis


RN; BSN required.   Licensed as a registered nurse, certification in area of specialty is required within 3 years.


Prior CDI experience preferred.  Five years recent clinical experience in a hospital setting; Critical care, utilization review or coding experience desired.  Requires excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), assessment/observation skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.  Meet minimum score on pre-hire competency test.
