Responsible for accurate and compliant assigning of ICD-10 diagnosis, PCS procedure codes correctly assigning POA to the diagnosis. In addition, correct and Compliant assigning of CPT procedure code, modifiers, and appropriate assignments of DRGs/ APCs. Coding staff will abide by the standards of ethical coding as set forth by American Health Information Management association.
A.S. degree in Health Information Technology or related science/healthcare field with courses in anatomy/physiology, pharmacology and medical terminology is required. A minimum of five years of inpatient/outpatient coding experience in an acute hospital setting may be considered as a substitute. Register Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required.
Computer experience, knowledge of understanding lab values, medications, anatomy and physiology. Minimum of one-year experience coding in an acute care facility Medical Records Department.
