Main Function

The EMT-P is an allied health professional who provides a wide range of emergent and non emergent patient care and transportation outside the hospital setting. The EMT-P will encounter patients with medical and trauma complaints. The EMT-P must be able to communicate and treat all types of human responses from the patient, family and bystanders. The EMT-P is responsible for functioning in the pre-hospital setting as well as various capacities through tout the hospital. Patient care is a priority no matter what the patients age, race, religion, or cultural background is.


Technical Non Nursing


EMT-P need to maintain current certification as an EMT-P issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  The EMT-P needs to maintain current certification in ACLS, PALS.   AEMT must have current CPR and EVOC certifications along with a valid driver license.  The EMT-P must have the ability to read, write, understanding oral communication.   The EMT-P must have the ability to give presentations and teach.  The EMT-P must be able to keep neat and legible written records.  The EMT-P must be able to follow universal precautions, use proper body mechanics and make appropriate timely decisions.  The EMT-P must be able to handle traumatic situations, such as the death of a patient, including children, and other unpleasant sights.
