The EMT is an allied health professional who provides a wide range of emergent and non emergent patient care and transportation outside the hospital setting. The EMT will encounter patients with medical and trauma complaints. The EMT must be able to communicate and treat all types of human responses from the patient, family and bystanders. The EMT is responsible for functioning in the pre-hospital setting as well as various capacities through tout the hospital. Patient care is a priority no matter what the patients age, race, religion, or cultural background is.
Technical Non Nursing
Maintains current certification as EMT by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Maintains current certification in CPR. Must have EVOC certification. Must have current valid drivers
license. Ability to read, write, understand oral communication and have verbal ability in giving presentations/teaching. Keeps neat and legible written records. Follows universal precautions. Utilizes proper body mechanics. Is able to make timely decisions. Is able to handle traumatic situations, such as the death of a patient, including children, and unpleasant sights.
