Main Function

Provides high quality nursing care for assigned patients in a scientific and humanistic focus. The RPH Staff Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes a holistic systems approach to protect and promote client wellness and safety in the physiological, psychological, social-cultural, developmental and spiritual domains. Nursing interventions are interdisciplinary, population specific and are directed toward optimal wellness. Provides high quality heath care to medical and surgical cardiovascular patients through the development and implementation of a comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase I-III Program that involves the patient and their family.  Reports directly to Cardiac Rehabilitation Coordinator and indirectly to Director of Rehabilitation Services, yet is accountable to the standards of care and practice and educational requirements as delineated by the Robert Packer Hospital Nursing.

Education

Bachelor's Degree RN

The staff nurse must be a graduate nurse eligible to take the state board examination or a registered nurse currently licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and must successfully complete an IV and oral medication challenge examination as outlined by the hospital within the orientation period.  In addition, the staff registered nurse must meet individual nursing unit specifications regarding educational requirements during employment.

 

Maintains CPR practice yearly and maintains current CPR certification.

Successfully passes EKG course and telemetry/monitoring checklist yearly.

Maintains ACLS certification.

Experience

One year RN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) desired. Experience working in a team environment.  Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call.  Will need to demonstrate the ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.  Must demonstrated leadership skills, skills contributing towards a positive teamwork environment, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
