6 West is a 62-bed neuro/trauma/medical-surgical unit where staff members provide care to patients with neurologic disorders, those who have been victims of traumatic events, and general medical-surgical patients. The unit consists of 30 semi-private rooms and two private rooms. All rooms have the capability of telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry monitoring. Our diverse team consist of a Leadership Triad, Registered Nurses, Patient Care Partners, and Unit Clerks, who work together to provide the best care possible to our patient population. There is an active Unit Council on 6 West that is responsible for making decisions that guide unit practice. A unit specific Fall Prevention Council and Infection Prevention Council are also incorporated.
Provides high quality nursing care for assigned patients in a scientific and humanistic focus. The Robert Packer Hospital Staff Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes a holistic systems approach to protect and promote client wellness and safety in the physiological, psychological, social-cultural, developmental and spiritual domains. Nursing interventions are interdisciplinary, age specific and are directed toward optimal wellness.
Bachelors Degree RN
The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Robert Packer Hospital Nursing Professional Practice Model. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects
