To provide high quality nursing care for Emergency Department patients in accordance with nursing standards of practice. Responsible for the management, coordination, monitoring, promoting and evaluation of processes and activities related to the Emergency Department and Emergency Preparedness. Maintains collaborative relationships with nursing staff members, physicians, ancillary staff, and ambulance associations to provide quality care. Maintains the appropriate level of knowledge and clinical expertise through continuing education/inservice programs and self development activities to advance care of patients in the following age groups; infant, child, adult and geriatric. Maintains competencies for these age groups.
The Emergency Department Manager is required to have a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing and be currently licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. The Emergency Department Manger is required to have PALS and ACLS certification. Certification in Emergency Nursing and active participation at local and state levels in Emergency Nurse Association Chapter is preferred
Two years of medical-surgical experience and one year of ICU, CCU or ER experience required. Two years of Management experience preferred.
