Basic Life Support
Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, the Surgical Specialty Coordinator is responsible for the nursing care of patients and the supervision of assigned personnel. He/she is responsible for the orientation and teaching of new employees to their nursing specialty and ongoing in-service programs. The Surgical Specialty Coordinator keeps the nursing manager informed of all activities of assigned services and seeks guidance as needed. The Surgical Specialty Coordinator supports the nursing manager in carrying out unit objective and is a primary representative of the nursing manager. The Surgical Specialty Coordinator meets required population specific competencies.
Registered Nurse currently licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, and must successfully complete an IV medication challenge examination as outlined by the hospital within three months of employment. In addition, the Surgical Specialty Coordinator must successfully complete the basic EKG course as outlined by the hospital, as well as the basic life support course
Two years experience in the defined clinical area. Demonstrated leadership abilities and teaching skills.
