The Operating Room Radiologic Technologist works under the direction and supervision of a physician and the coordination with the Operating Room Supervisor in performing the necessary duties that assists in the coordination and completion of the daily patient caseload involving the use of portable c-arm fluoroscopy in the Operating Room (OR). Assists with the appropriate patient positioning on operating room table and suggest appropriate immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. During Operating Room procedures involving the use of x-rays, is responsible for moving x-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols. Supervise and instruct students in the operating room areas.
High School diploma and graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program. AAS degree preferred.
Certification required; ARRT
Minimum of six months preferred as a registered technologist in a Radiology Department of a general acute-care hospital.
