Assists in the daily routine operation of the HIM Department specifically in the area of coding. Maintains collaborative relationships with staff members, physicians and ancillary staff. Maintains an appropriate level of knowledge and expertise through continuing education/inservice programs and self development activities.
Medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, and pharmacology classes. ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding classes. RHIT or RHIA accepted, CCS preferred. If certification not present upon hire, commits to obtaining certification within 2 years of hire. Knowledge of Microsoft word, Windows applications, i.e. Excel, Access and Power Point.
Medical Office Assistant; ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding.
