Main Function

The Health Care IT Program Director leverages The Guthrie Clinic (TGC) program management offices methodology to deliver large, complex projects within scope, schedule, and cost criteria. This position will report to the CIO and collaborates with project sponsors to design, plan, implement systems and manage approximately 16 cross-functional teams to a clearly-defined set of common goals. Projects include but are not limited to new application roll-outs, system upgrades, infrastructure enhancements, and optimization initiatives in both clinical and non-clinical environments. The Sr. Program Director will manage the entire project lifecycle from initiation through to transition to operations (project closure).

The Sr. Program Director collaborates with executives, project sponsors, functional or service leaders to direct a group of 30-40 IT system professionals, administrators, educators, vendors, consultants, clinical and non-clinical operational stakeholders for the duration of the related project.

Will be accountable to executive leadership and governance council for collaborative innovation through business alignment, building a culture of customer service excellence, and measurable results through service delivery.

This individual will rely on experience, mature judgment, corporate IT resources and established standards to plan and achieve goals. The Sr. Program Director has mastered the discipline of project management in a healthcare setting, provides mentoring to the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center IT Project Management team, and support to IT Program Directors. Due to the nature of the work involved this position will be expected periodically to work beyond the normally scheduled hours.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in healthcare management, Information Technology or related field

Experience

Requires 5-7 years of experience managing projects or leading initiatives in health information technology.

Prior experience with large scale IT systems implementation for an integrated delivery system.

Prior experience with EMR implementation (preferably Epic), Meditech and ERP (preferably Peoplesoft, Oracle)
