Clinical Lab Technologist
Performs established laboratory procedures according to approved protocols that required the broad exercise of independent judgment and interpretation with minimal technical supervision; maintains equipment and records; performs quality assurance activities related to test performance; and may also function as a supervisor, educator, manager or researcher within a medical laboratory setting. The technologist includes all persons who perform a broad range of procedures as well as persons who concentrate their activities in a specialized area. Technologists role subsumes all aspects of the technicians role
Bachelor’s degree from accredited program in Medical Technology or related science acceptable to NYS for licensure. Bachelor’s degree in a related science with and with out experience may be considered, based on NYS licensure requirements
NYS license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist is required, or qualifications that permit applying for Limited license. Certification by nationally recognized agency is preferred. Previous phlebotomy experience preferred. Previous experience in a hospital laboratory is preferred.
