8NW is a 28 bed medical/surgical unit with the capacity to monitor 28 patients on telemetry along with 16 patients on continuous pulse oximetry. We have 24 semi-private beds and 4 isolation beds. The Hospitalists are a group of physicians that specialize in the practice of hospital medicine. Our specialties are gastrointestinal disease and nephrology/urology disease. We see a multitude of other medical diseases, as well as surgeries of most systems. There is an active unit council on 8NW, along with various other staff led committees responsible for guiding the unit forward. 8NW also is represented on hospital councils, as well. Our nurses are supported by patient care partners, mobility specialist and unit clerks.

Main Function

Provides high quality nursing care for assigned patients in a scientific and humanistic focus. The Robert Packer Hospital Staff Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes a holistic systems approach to protect and promote client wellness and safety in the physiological, psychological, social-cultural, developmental and spiritual domains. Nursing interventions are interdisciplinary, age specific and are directed toward optimal wellness.

Education

Bachelors Degree RN

Experience

One year RN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) desired. Experience working in a team environment is essential. Computer skills required and prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call. Will need to demonstrate ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Must demonstrate leadership skills, skills contributing towards a positive teamwork environment, effective communication, and excellent critical thinking skills.
