Robert Packer Hospital
7NW Joint Camp: 7NW is a 20 bed orthopedic med/surg unit located on the 7th floor at Robert Packer Hospital. The unit consists of 16 private rooms and 4 semiprivate rooms, showers and restrooms in every room. All rooms are capable of telemetry monitoring. Joint Camp provides an environment of health and healing aimed at improving the health of the population we serve through use of evidence based care practices. Registered Nurses coordinate a collaborative team approach that enables creation of relationships and provision of services to support positive outcomes of a complex orthopedic population. We provide safe, quality patient centered care to adult orthopedic/neurosurgical/medical and telemetry patients who are acutely ill or injured and in varying stages of recuperation from surgery, therapeutic or surgical intervention. The majority of the adult orthopedic procedures include, but are not limited to, total joint replacements of the hip and knee, and procedures of the ankle, shoulder and hand. The cornerstone of our nursing practice is based on Dorothea Orem’s theory of self care and a culture of safety and accountability. The unit utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach to patient and family care. Clinical treatment regimens appropriate to the patient populations are provided as well as social services, case management and patient and family education. Joint Camp provides direct patient care to adult patients ranging in age from eighteen (18) years to end of life.
