License

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania

• Certification within area of expertise or practice preferred (Nursing Management, CCRN, CEN, etc.)

Unit Description

6NW is a  35 bed Cardiac Telemetry Unit  that specializes in Cardiology and Cardiothoracic surgery.  We have 34 semi-private rooms and one isolation room.  Additionally, we serve vascular, Internal/General Medicine patients.  While working on this specialized unit, you will enjoy a professional atmosphere and see teamwork in action.  There are many learning opportunities that include protocols for caring for high risk patients, administering high risk medication infusions and participating in the Shared Governance Councils. 

Main Function

In collaboration with the management team focuses on daily department operations. Supervises personnel and coordinates activities of Nursing. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes team concept and reflects the mission and values at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital. Serves as a role model for nurses, physicians, and department support staff, exhibiting the Core Values in all activities. Mentors under the Clinical Manager / Director and pursues management and leadership training within the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital. May be assigned to special projects per Clinical Manager / Director consistent with strategic, fiscal, and operational goals/targets.

In collaboration with management, coordinates the team to deliver patient care in a compassionate and ethical manner according to recognized standards and care model. Functions as the clinical & operating resource with designated hours of accountability exercising independent judgment. Assists with business plans, fiscal accountability, and clinical and resource utilization. Fosters change, and teamwork. Performs clinical duties of the patient care role related to professional specialty.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Nursing.

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.

Experience

Two years of recent clinical supervisory experience or charge nurse experience desired
