Main Function

The Trauma Resource Nurse assures appropriate clinical management of all trauma patients in collaboration with the trauma clinical and administrative team by reviewing documentation of clinical care for compliance to standards of trauma care, practice management guidelines and standards for trauma center accreditation.

As Education & Outreach Coordinator, the Trauma Resource Nurse assumes responsibility for the planning, development, design and coordination of continuing education and training programs for EMS, referring facilities staff and Guthrie staff in this service area.

As Injury Prevention Coordinator, the Trauma Resource Nurse assumes responsibility for the planning, development, design and coordination of comprehensive injury prevention programs in the Guthrie service area.

Education

  • Registered nurse licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania  

  • Certified by a nursing specialty board

  • CCRN, CEN or CFRN preferred

  • PA Trauma Nurse Certification required.

  • ACLS, PALS and ATCN provider certification required within six (6) months of hire

  • BSN required

Experience

The Trauma Resource Nurse must have a minimum of 5 years experience in trauma, surgical, critical care or emergency nursing; possess a functional knowledge of trauma care systems; demonstrated abilities in establishing positive relationships with patients, families and hospital staff; and excellent leadership, collaborative practice, organizational and teaching skills.

As Injury Prevention/Education & Outreach Coordinator, the Trauma Resource Nurse should have experience in the development, coordination and performance of educational programs.  EMS experience is beneficial.
